This week’s highlight comes from a father/son ZogSports reffing duo in Los Angeles:
“Big Daddy Kane” BDK (father):
Ever since I joined ZogsportsLA, life is fun, playing sports is extremely enjoyable and being a field team member is AMAZING. I’ve come across some amazing people, I’ve reffed some awesome games and I’ve made lots of new friends. I enjoy every minute of every game i referee, I make sure EVERY player feels the energy I bring!! I love to spice things up, I like to bring joy and good sportsmanship to every game. Zogsports is the best coed league I’ve come across.
Diego (son):
It’s a ton of fun reffing for ZogSports! Whether it’s hanging with others or watching an insane play happen, I’m glad to be a part of every game. I’ve been a part of the team for more than a year, however I’m still continuously improving and learning with every game. I hope to be a part of it for much longer so I can have even more fun!

“Finally got picked for the bowling raffle tonight and bowled the strike I needed to win this sweet a$$ shirt and the pot of $90. Even if we don’t make the playoffs, this made my season!! I love bowling with ZogSportsLA! #bowlsohard“

“What do you do when you don’t play but want to hang with your coolest friends? Lead the fans in some great battle cries! EE CHEE WA MAA!! (yes, ewokese exists!) And it’s that kind of spirit that I feel carried my favorite team, Ewoks Him Again, to the win! DANGAR!!
For those who need it….
Translation: Ee chee wa maa (wow! Gee whiz! Oh my goodness!)
Dangar (traditional battle cry)
I’ve Zogged myself with Bowling and loved it! My highlight is that no matter what sport it is and whether or not I’m playing, I’m guaranteed great friends and great fun!”

“Everyone is constantly making connections that carry over both personally and professionally, and forming lasting friendships. Our team (Woo Tang) is a mix of people who mostly had never met before, and through Zog, we’ve developed unbreakable bonds that have made us a team with strong chemistry and group of friends who love spending time together. We’ve made so many memories together, and value all the eating, drinking, dancing, and laughing at happy hour as much as we do winning games on the football field.”

“ZogSports has meant so much to me. I was able to come right to LA and immediately have friends that shared a common interest. And creating a softball team allowed for the perfect non-threatening environment to meet the girl I’m going to spend the rest of my life with.”

“My highlight: sitting on the grass with the team, taking off our cleats, sweat on our foreheads, sun on our backs, bodies aching, happy.”

Taylor and Aaron are not your average couple. The two ZogSportsLA football players met off the field only a year ago. Having ZogSports as common ground, these two avid players took their shirts and traveled the world together. Taylor and Aaron are here to share their story!
“Ready….hike!” And so began the relationship between Aaron and Taylor. We met during the first scrimmage game of the first season of ZogSports Los Angeles. After the game, teams were encouraged to head to a designated sports bar for fun and socializing. Since we were on opposing teams during the scrimmage, this is where we had our first friendly conversation…that lasted 5 hours!
Those five hours covered all of the typical questions and more, starting with “so what do you do?” Aaron: I’m a theoretical mathematician. Taylor: I’m an MRI technologist (oh yeah and a former NBA dancer). Aaron: A former NBA dancer?? Taylor: A theoretical mathematician?? The explaining went on and on between them as they swapped stories about everything from Aaron’s time living in England while receiving his PhD at the University of Cambridge to Taylor’s recent USO-style trip to Kuwait riding above the deserts in Chinook helicopters and performing for soldiers stationed at various U.S. military bases in the country. All of the sudden, it was five hours later and we had certainly hit it off! Date #2 was scheduled for later that week.
Time flew by with some notable events: Taylor fractured her elbow playing in a Zog game, they went to the 50th anniversary Rolling Stones concert, set a Guinness world record for “largest gathering of people wearing rally wigs” at an Anaheim Angels game, and some jet-setting to places all over the world including Australia, Vancouver, Cancun, Italy, England, and more has kept us active and enjoying life together. We recently got engaged in Geneva, Switzerland at CERN (site of the world’s largest particle accelerator).
We’ve played touch football every season since the start of ZogSports LA and literally take a picture in our Zog shirts in every location we visit. We’re so thankful for the amazing people at ZogSports and are having a blast planning our wedding!
Today we have ZogSportsLA‘s Alexia Penna sharing her likes and dislikes with us the ZogSports community. Alexia loves making memories with her LA team and is happy to be a part of the increasingly growing LA Football and Volleyball leagues.
Funniest ZogSports Memory? Most of my favorite Zog memories have been made outside the fields with the teammates that have turned into really great friends.
